Focus, overwhelm, and everything underneath

ADHD therapy that doesn't start with another colour-coded calendar.

You've almost certainly tried the systems already. What usually goes unaddressed is everything that built up around them over the years, and that's often the part that has to shift first.

Two things at once

Practical strategies matter and your counsellor will build them with you: getting started on things, working with time when time doesn't feel real, and keeping a week from falling apart. But those strategies rarely stick on their own, because underneath the abandoned planners there's usually something older. A sense that you should find this easier than you do. A quiet assumption that everyone else was given an instruction manual. And a body that has learned to run on last-minute pressure because nothing else reliably works.

So we work on both at the same time: the practical scaffolding, and the belief that you're the problem.

If you were diagnosed as an adult

Being diagnosed later in life is its own experience and it deserves proper attention. There's often relief first, then grief, and then a fairly uncomfortable anger about the years you spent trying to be someone you were never going to be. That sequence is normal, it comes up constantly, and it's very workable.

On assessment: we offer therapy rather than diagnostic assessment. If you suspect you have ADHD and don't have a diagnosis, we can still work with you, and we can point you towards a registered psychologist if a formal assessment would help.

Rejection sensitivity, and what it does to relationships

This is the part people talk about least and feel most. The disproportionate collapse after mild criticism. Pulling away before anyone else can. The constant background effort of managing a version of yourself you assume other people are only just tolerating.

It has a recognisable shape and a mechanism behind it, which means it's something you can work with rather than something you simply have.

Common questions

Before you begin

Do I need a formal diagnosis first?

No. Plenty of people start while they're still on an assessment waiting list. Your counsellor works with how your life is actually going, not with a piece of paper.

Isn't this just coaching?

There's some overlap, but no. Coaching focuses on systems and accountability. We do that too, and we also work with the emotional side: the shame, the rejection sensitivity, the anxiety, and what all of it has done to your relationships.

Can you prescribe medication?

No. We work alongside whoever prescribes for you, and we can help you prepare for those appointments if you find them difficult.

Ready when you are.

Fifteen minutes, free, no clinical intake. Just a conversation about whether this is the right room for what you're carrying.
