The conditions under which this website and our services are offered.

This website isn't counselling

Everything on this site is general information. It isn't clinical advice, it doesn't create a therapeutic relationship, and it shouldn't be used to diagnose or treat any condition. A therapeutic relationship begins only when you and a counsellor agree to work together and complete an informed-consent process.

Not an emergency service

We don't monitor this website, our forms or our email outside working hours, and we can't respond to emergencies at any hour. In an emergency, call 911. For 24/7 crisis support in Canada, call or text 988. See crisis resources.

Scope of practice

Our counsellors provide counselling within their professional scope. We don't diagnose, we don't prescribe, and we don't provide urgent, inpatient or after-hours care. Where your needs exceed what we can appropriately offer, we'll say so and assist you in finding suitable care.

Jurisdiction and regulation

Counselling regulation differs by country and by province or state. Where your counsellor holds a formal registration it will be disclosed to you, and it's your responsibility to confirm that the designation satisfies any insurer you intend to claim from. Tell your counsellor if your location changes, as it may affect who can work with you.

Booking and cancellation

Fees are confirmed with you before booking. Sessions cancelled with less than twenty-four hours' notice are charged in full. Payment is processed by a third-party provider; we don't store card details.

Concerns and complaints

Tell us first — write to Hello@MaitreyaCounselling.com and we'll respond within five working days. Where your counsellor holds a professional registration, you also have the right at any time to contact their regulatory body directly.
