Where you are matters more than where we are

Counselling is regulated province by province across Canada, and what decides who can work with you is where you are sitting during the session rather than where the practice is based. If you move, or split your year between two places, let your counsellor know, because it can change who is able to see you.

Insurance in British Columbia

Registered Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), Registered Social Workers and Registered Psychologists are the designations most extended health plans in BC name. Counselling therapy in BC is moving toward formal regulation, so check the exact wording on your plan rather than the category.

The single most useful question to put to your insurer is this: which counselling designations do you reimburse, and what is my annual maximum? Tell us what they say and we'll match you accordingly where we can. We don't bill insurers directly, so you'll pay us and then submit a receipt that carries your counsellor's designation and registration number.

Time zones

British Columbia runs on Pacific time. We'll confirm your local time in writing before the first session, because finding out about a mix-up at seven in the morning is nobody's idea of a good start.
