Trauma Therapy
When something overwhelming happens, your body does what it needs to do to get you through it, and then doesn't always switch off afterwards. We work with that directly, at whatever pace you can manage.

Every session is held by secure video, so where you sit is up to you. What matters is that you tell us where that is, because it decides who is able to work with you.
Ask us first. We are building capacity here and cannot promise a match yet. Write to us and we will tell you honestly whether we can help — and where to look if we cannot.
Africa is not one jurisdiction and the differences matter. South Africa regulates tightly through the Health Professions Council, and Kenya, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia all require statutory registration to practise. Elsewhere the picture is governed more by professional association standards than by a single licence. We check your specific country before agreeing to anything, and we will not match you with someone who is not entitled to work where you live.
We will tell you which registration your counsellor holds and give you the number, so you can check it against the register yourself before you book. If you would rather not take that on trust, you shouldn't have to.
Private counselling is usually paid for directly across most of the continent. Some medical schemes reimburse psychology — South African schemes commonly cover sessions with an HPCSA-registered psychologist, often from a savings or above-threshold benefit. Ask your scheme before you begin.
You'll know what a session costs before you book it, never after. If cost is what's stopping you, say so — we hold a small number of reduced-fee places and nobody will ask you to justify the request.
You are in GMT through to EAT. We confirm your local time in writing before your first session, because a mix-up discovered at six in the morning is nobody's idea of a good start.
Call your local emergency number. In South Africa, the SADAG helpline is 0800 567 567, or 0800 12 13 14 at any hour. Elsewhere, Befrienders Worldwide lists services by country at befrienders.org and the International Association for Suicide Prevention keeps a directory at iasp.info.
We are not a crisis service and cannot respond urgently or out of hours, anywhere. More options are on our crisis page.
What we work with
When something overwhelming happens, your body does what it needs to do to get you through it, and then doesn't always switch off afterwards. We work with that directly, at whatever pace you can manage.
Learn more →EMDR helps your mind finish processing something it couldn't process at the time. It's one of the most researched trauma treatments there is, and it usually asks far less of you than telling the story over and over.
Learn more →You've probably tried the apps and the planners already. We'll build the practical side with you, and we'll also work on what tends to go unaddressed: the years of assuming you should find all this easier.
Learn more →Anxiety and depression are usually how something else shows up on the surface. Your symptoms are real and worth treating, and we'd rather work with what's driving them than teach you to live around them.
Learn more →Grief doesn't follow a schedule and it rarely looks the way you expect. Nobody here will hurry you through it or hand you a set of stages to work along.
Learn more →Most couples aren't really arguing about the thing they're arguing about. We help you see what's actually happening between you when it escalates, and what it would take to change it.
Learn more →Tell us where you'll be sitting and what's going on. We'll come back within two working days with a straight answer about whether we can help.
